It began with an automotive service shop in the small town of Point Isabel, IN

The Riggs family began offering services early on. Albert and R Lou Riggs were blessed with seven children. Over the years a couple of the sons followed their passion for auto maintenance and opened an auto repair station in the small town of Point Isabel, IN. Here they would serve the community supporting the customers automotive needs. Many family stories begin with memories of spending time at the Riggs service station. Riggs Automotive no longer exists, however brothers Connor and Taylor feel it’s only suiting to take their love and passion for aviation and continue the Riggs family business through Riggs Aviation.

The brothers both share the same goal of pursuing a passion and love for aviation. Growing up, the brothers would listen to stories of the Riggs Automotive shop from their Father. Their Grandfather (Jack) and Uncle, Scott Riggs would share their love for flying motivating the brothers to pursue their own paths in aviation. Combined with the desire to continue on the Riggs services as well as the love for flying the brothers are excited to serve customers.

Denton “Jack” Riggs

Jack was where aviation truly began for the Riggs family. At an early age, Jack had an interest for flying that would only manifest into a passion and career.

While helping part-time at his older brothers auto shop, Jack would save up money for one flying lesson at a time. He would sneak off to the local airport in Anderson, IN where he would conduct lessons in a Piper J3 Cub. Jacks family wouldn’t have any knowledge of his flight lessons until one day his father and oldest brother arrived at the airport to find Jack pre-flighting the Cub before flying. His family never said much about Jacks flying, but would never step between his love for aviation.

Amidst the start of the Vietnam war, Jack joined the armed services with the goal to fly for the Air Force. Jack flew multiple aircraft and accumulated over 4000 flying hours while in the military. He would have a long and full career before retiring.

Jack sadly lost his medical later in his career and wouldn’t fly an airplane PIC again. Even though he couldn’t share the act of flying, Jack would share with others through stories. He would later enjoy the opportunities to fly as a passenger with his son Scotts 1946 Piper Cub; the same type airplane Jack soloed in 1952.

Jack is the grandfather to Connor and Taylor Riggs, and growing up he would take them to the Indianapolis airshow each summer. Through sharing his passion for aviation he would help to cultivate the boys pursuit towards earning pilots license and aircraft mechanics license.

Scott Riggs

Scott Riggs is one of four children of Jack and Connie Riggs. Scott had a passion for aviation early in age. Scott began his flying in BeaverCreek, OH at a local airport, Moraine Airpark. This Airport would ironically only be a few miles northwest from where Connor and Taylor took their first flights and where Connor would eventually complete all of his pilot training. Scott learned to fly in a Citabria, and always had a passion for tailwheel and aerobatic aircraft. He and his Father always desired to build an aircraft of their own. Scott later continued his flying career flying cargo hauls in a Beechcraft, Beech 18. He would spend a few years flying the mighty Beech 18 as a “freightdog” until sadly losing his medical certificate due to health issues.

Scott wouldn’t have the opportunity to fly for many years until in 2004, the FAA established its new Sport Pilot ruling, allowing him to fly without a traditional medical certificate. Following this change, Scott rekindled his excitement for flying begin flying once again. Very shortly after, Scott purchased a Piper J3 of his own, and continued to share his love of aviation with all his family friends. Scott, with the use of his Cub would share his love of flying with his nephews Taylor and Connor, offering them lessons in his Cub.

Scott contributed to brothers, Taylor and Connor’s love for aviation and would help guide them through their own journey through the knowledge and experience he had gained through his career.

 The Team

Connor Riggs

  • Connor began Riggs Aviation and is excited to work alongside the support and assistance of his brother Taylor.

Connor grew up with aviation in his blood! His first flight was in a J3 Cub at a small grass strip called Red Stewart Airfield in Waynesville, Ohio and from that day he was hooked. Growing up he would play with toy airplanes and look to the sky whenever a plane flew over.

Connor began working in aviation in 2015, following his freshman year of college. After realizing his dream to become a pilot and work in aviation he moved back to Cincinnati and began working at Red Stewart Airfield as a grounds keeper and very soon after began working as a mechanics apprentice. While working for the Stewarts, he would go on to obtain his Commercial pilots license as well as his Bachelors in Operations Management from the University of Cincinnati. Connor obtained his Airframe and PowerPlant license after learning from the extremely talented and experienced Stewart family.

While working at Stewarts, Connor gained valuable experience in what it takes to run a flight school, maintenance shop, FBO and airport. He learned true stick and rudder flying skills and would fall in love with vintage fabric airplanes after learning the vastly forgotten world of fabric covering.

Connor has flown multiple types of aircraft and helped service numerous makes and models of general aviation aircraft. He has completed multiple engine overhauls, and assisted in many aircraft structures repairs and restorations. He has a passion for aerobatics and loves to talk about airplanes. Connor has a passion to help and assist customers in any way possible, and is excited to work hard in order to meet customers’ demands.
